Hey Everyone!
Elder Forsyth is finally gone,
and Elder Marsh is in Puchong! Elder Forsyth and I were companions for 5 and a
half MONTHS. It's awesome to have some
change finally! It's always good to have change while you're a missionary,
because things start to get dull when you're with the same person in the same
place for too long. Hopefully Elder
Marsh and I can get some work done before the end of the transfer (March 1st)!
Monday, we went to a trampoline
park with the rest of the zone, and it was a ton of fun. We played lots of
dodgeball, and watched Elder Boud do a bunch of flips. After P day was over, we
called potentials, investigators, members, and formers, and met with Kok Cin
and taught some final things before his baptismal interview.
Tuesday, we met with a member
that took a job that would work her on Sundays.
We talked about the importance of coming to church. She's doing
everything she can to get Sundays off now, so that's awesome! We did a lot of
contacting too, and found some great people!
Wednesday was lots of fun. We
went to visit Sister Saffron and teach her how to read the Book of Mormon, and
at the end of our lesson, we got a call from Singapore. It was the mission
office calling to let us know that Elder Forsyth would be leaving on
Thursday! He and I were super happy, and
Saffron was super sad. We were both waiting for the call, so it was great to
finally get it!
In the afternoon, we met with
someone new named Valentine! Valentine is 28 years old, male, and has quite a
bit of potential! He's a really nice guy, and had desire to know the
truth! That was great! Desire is really
important! We taught the restoration, and he was really interested in it. After
we met with him, we taught another member, then went contacting.
That night, Elder Forsyth and I
went to the Lim's for one last dinner with them before Elder Forsyth left, and
we brought another new person, Andy! Andy is Indonesian Chinese, and a super
nice guy. He might be moving back to Indonesia in March, so we might not be
able to teach him for long. He seems
like a super nice guy, and we had a really good dinner with the Lim's.
Thursday, we taught a recent
convert, Jax, then snagged some lunch with Kok Cin and Saffron! We had really
good western food (American food), then Kok Cin had his interview! He PASSED.
He's going to be baptized this Saturday! I'm so excited! This is the
first person that I've found, taught, and baptized! That's super awesome. He's going to be a
great member.
We had a few lessons cancel
after the interview, then Elder Forsyth left to Singapore, and I was with the
Chinese Elders for about an hour before Elder Marsh made it to Puchong! We went and picked him up, brought his stuff
up to the apartment, and did some weekly planning. We set some good goals, and
I'm excited to reach them! After weekly planning, we went contacting, and we
found some people that have some potential! So that's great!
Friday, Elder Marsh wanted to
go and visit a bunch of inactive/less active members, which is great, except
for the fact that literally NOBODY is between the train and any of the less
active/inactive member's houses. We
walked a TON, and didn't really find anyone that we could teach. But we DID get
let into a few houses, so that was great. Maybe they'll come back to church
eventually. After visiting inactives all day, we went to the church to teach
English class, and it was lots of fun!
Saturday, Yuen had his
baptismal interview, and also passed! He chose Elder Marsh to baptize him since
I'm baptizing Kok Cin! We'll both be
dressed up in white this Saturday! That's super exciting! After the interview,
we visited more less actives/inactives, and that night, had Christophorus's
baptism. He's the Chinese Elders' investigator. Short, Indonesian, MEGA religious,
and he's going to make a great member. Everyone thought that we were teaching
him instead of the Chinese Elders, because he doesn't speak any Chinese, so everyone
was calling us to check when the baptism was.
That was pretty funny. He sang 'You Raise Me Up' after he was baptized,
and it was super funny. He loves singing, buuuuut he's not the best at it.
That's ok, it was great.
When I woke up Saturday, I had
a runny nose. By the end of the day, I
had a runny nose, sore throat, a cough, watery eyes, a headache, plugged ears,
cloudy thoughts, and puffy eyes. We left
the baptism and I slept until morning!
Sunday, I still had a super bad
cold, but we went to church for 3 hours, then back home. All the members were
telling me I looked terrible. I called the senior couple and asked if I could
go home and take a nap, and they asked how bad it was. I said, “I feel awful, and all the members keep
telling me I look terrible.” They said I
could just go home for the rest of the day and sleep. I slept for about 4
hours, then I was up for an hour, then I fell asleep again until this morning!
I feel a BILLION times better! Still sick, but not even close to where I was
yesterday.
Today, we woke up, and did some
studies. We're going to go shopping, then go to Chinatown. Our P Day is going
end 2 hours early, because we have a meeting with the general relief society
president, Sister Burton. That'll be pretty cool! Our P Day is going to be shortened, so that
kind of stinks. Oh well. Oh! And we're going to Singapore on Thursday, I
believe! That'll be awesome! I'm super
excited for that! Singapore is a ton of fun!
