Hey Everyone!
I can't believe it's already Monday again... We went sight-seeing
all Monday until 6:30. I think it's the first time I've realized how tall all
of the buildings in Singapore actually are. Later in the week, I was talking to
a new senior couple from LA, and they were telling me about how impressive Singapore
is compared to LA. I started looking, and it really is impressive... SO. That
was cool! We watched a super good talk by Elder Holland and talked about it,
along with a training during our opening session of zone conference that
night. It was really fun. I also got to
see my two trainers, Elder Ng and Forsyth in Singapore. They're companions
right now, so it was fun to see them. I also got to see Elder Tennant and
McCusker! It was like Puchong was reuniting. Haha! It
was great to see them for a few minutes.
Tuesday was zone conference all day long. I learned a lot of
stuff, but it's not too interesting to read about, so I'll just skip to our
activity at night. We went to Marina Bay (coolest bay in the world I think),
and watched this AWESOME light show. It was INCREDIBLE. I couldn't believe it.
The music was wayyyyyyy good up until the last 2 minutes. Then it was kind of
weird. The music was mega good, the
lights were way cool, and everything was just so awesome. If anyone ever goes
to Singapore, DEFINITELY have to go check that out. It was amazing. Elder Asah
went and got his Patriarchal blessing, so he didn't get to come along, but President
Simmons said I could go with all the other missionaries to the light show. I'm really glad I got to go. Elder Asah loved his night too. He was so
happy about his blessing, and definitely satisfied with it. so that's good.
Wednesday, we traveled home. I got to talk with Elder Allred
for a bit in the mission office before we had to go home, so that was cool. We
hopped on the plane, and then Elder Asah got a fever. Sooooooo he was suffering
for a long time. We had to transfer planes half way, so he was freezing and
feeling terrible for a long time. We got
home, and he rested up for the rest of the night! We got home pretty late, so we didn't miss out
on much time. So that was good. I just unpacked got ready for Thursday!
Thursday, we went to the dentist to schedule an appointment
for Elder Asah to get his teeth out, and guess what? They said they need a
specialist to take out his teeth, and she only comes in once a month. Sooooo
the next time she comes in is the first day of next transfer. Our goal was to get them out before next
transfer so that his trainee wouldn't have to sit inside for the first week or
two of his mission. Buuuuut it's gonna be perfectly timed so that he has to
stay in. We called President, and he said that we should still get them taken
out that day, and then I'll just take turns taking my trainee out and his
trainee out until he's good enough to go out and work. That'll be a little crazy, but it'll be fun!
We met with Sayu and tried to get her to start preparing her neighbor to learn
about the gospel, buuuut I'm not sure if she's convinced to share it yet. After
that, we met with Samsul. He ate up our lesson this week, so that was good.
After we taught him the Plan of Salvation, Elder Asah found a bible in the
house we were meeting in (it was Samsul's neighbor’s house we were meeting in.
Don't know why we met there. They just told us to meet there). It was COVERED with notes and markings, so we
asked about it, and it was a girl's that lived in the house. We called her over and talked to her about
the Book of Mormon. I don't think she was too interested to learn about the
Book of Mormon, but I couldn't believe how well she had marked her bible. She
had to have just copied her pastor’s notes.
We'll work on her. She'll be a great reader of the Book of Mormon
soon...
Friday, we went less active hunting all day. We didn't have
much success. It was still fun, because
we brought a member named Patrick with us. He's getting ready for his mission
call. He doesn't do anything all day, so
he always helps out the missionaries, and it was our companionship's turn! So
that was fun. He even did our to do list for us while we watched a bunch of
people fight kites. It was fun to see them fighting the kites, and it was fun
to help Patrick out with the to do list. At night, we met with Brother Brian,
the Elders Quorum president. He's way cool. His wife is from Sabah, and I can't
understand a word she says when she speaks Malay--different accent. They have two super cute kids. The little girl kept trying to get me and
Elder Asah to brush her hair for her. It was so funny. We played with her a bunch while Elder Childs
trained Brian on how to be a better Elders Quorum president. We would translate
every now and then, but Brian understood most of what was said, so we just sat
and listened.
Saturday, we tried meeting with Cika again, but she jumped
in the shower right before we got there, and took FOREVER. We just met with her aunt, Jasmine, again. We
taught the Restoration, and it went really well. So that was good. We met with
a bunch of other people, but the day is kind of a blur. It went by really fast.
Yesterday, after church, we visited Miri first's branch president.
He and his family were eating snail, so I decided I'd try a few. I ate some snails, and it wasn't too bad. I
had two of them. There are definitely better meats, but snail isn't too bad…just
tastes like meat. After that, we taught some people, found some less actives,
did studies... Oh, we went to Pana's and taught about family history, then had
a barbecue with the members of the church in that kampung! It was tons of fun!
BUT. I thought there'd be chicken or something, but literally the only thing they
cooked was pig intestine. I got to eat
intestine for dinner. Not even rice. Not even chicken. Soooo that was a trial.
But I made it!
That was my week! I ran out of time, so I gotta go! Love you
