Audio recording

This is a note from Mom:  Elder Mullins and Mickelson sent an audio recording for his email this week.  We painstakingly turned it into written form.  It took forever!!  He will send emails from now on and send recordings just for the family to listen to.

Elder Mullins-- First thing on the list that we did this week: There's this girl named Vanilla. She's got about a thousand siblings.  There were three or four of them at the house when we went over on Tuesday night and we had a way good lesson

Elder Mickelson-- Because there were a bunch of little kids, we threw away our old lesson plan and talked about Shadrach Meshack and Abednego.

Elder Mullins-- We were just talking about it, teaching them this way fun lesson.  We mentioned that they were like thrown into the fire and they were burning. It was a really fun lesson.

Elder Mickelson-- We got the kids to act it out they were really getting involved.

Elder Mullins-- Yeah it was pretty coo,l but then after we asked him what do we learn from this they said, “if we obey the Commandments then God will throw us into the fire.”  Right, yeah, you'll be thrown into the fire for sure…

Elder Mickelson--- Yes there is a little bit of fire throwing involved in keeping the commandments sometimes.  That's what purifies us. It was really cool the members that we brought were able to testify specifically about getting thrown into the fire by not working on Sunday. That's one of the things Vanilla struggles with

Elder Mullins-- We also got a shout-out in church today. I'm getting thrown in the fire…Sweet!

Elder Mickelson—Yep, one of the members there just referenced us.  One of the other things that happened this week: we had a lit district meeting.  Elder Mullins and me pumped up the district.

Elder Mullins--  We took about 20 minutes of district meeting and gave a training on our zone vision.Iit was way good.

Elder Mickelson-- Our vone vision is #calledtoflourish.

Elder Mullins--t was a way good training. We just got them all pumped up.  We talked about how faith pushes our boundaries. It's what makes us better. Elder Mickelson talked about how when you do the same thing over and over faith is dormant and it doesn't work.  I was pumped up from it and I was the one giving the training. I hope everyone else was pumped up too.

Elder Mickelson-- We got a lot of really good results from it just really helping strengthening faith of the district and the zone.

Elder Mullins-- The day before that just this Monday we called home.

Elder Mickelson--  Nope we definitely called home on Tuesday.

Elder Mullins-- Oh no…awkward… Calling home was way good.

Elder Mickelson-- Elder Mullins talked to his family first so I think we'll let him talk about it first.

Elder Mullins-- It was fun to say hi.

Elder Mickelson-- I talked to my family.  It was also fun to say hi to them.

Elder Mullins—Oh, I met your twin also.

Elder Mickelson-- Oh yeah that was cool.

Elder Mullins—It was enjoyable.  Yeah definitely the highlight of the week; the Skype home.

Elder Mickelson—Sweet!  Moving on… There are two former missionaries that ended up getting together.  Elder Seagan, I was just companions with, was on the very last day of his mission.  We were on exchanges, and I told him my parting words of advice before he left to the airport.  I said, “Elder Segan, there are a lot of single women and this KK District.  You need to marry one. He said, “okay can.”  He totally got with one. They're totally dating right now.  He took my advice and put it to action.  The gift of Prophecy in action right there

Elder Mullins--We saw this way good picture of them. It's their WhatsApp profile.

Elder Mickelson-- One of our investigators who's named Asmira, we have been teaching her.  We talked to her three times this week, and it was straight fire.

Elder Mullins-- She's just eating it up every single time.  If we made a point she was smiling and pumped up, and her boyfriend didn’t know about what we were teaching them.  It was just way too funny. Ridley is way funny

Elder Mickelson-- I've never seen anybody so excited to learn the gospel. Asmira;s whole face lights up when we share anything new.  She is way excited to hear different stuff and learn new things and apply what we're teaching. Our most recent topic has been on personal revelation, and she's been eating that up a lot too.

Elder Mullins--  She has been taught all the lessons two or three times, but the missionaries that taught her before left so much out.  Every time we teach she understands a lot more and gets a ton out of it.   It’s way too fun to see her get so excited over understanding the gospel.

Elder Mickelson-- You should have seen her face when we told her we wouldn't be able to meet her next week. because we’ll be going into Singapore.  She was so crestfallen, but it's okay, because we're going to video call her.

Elder Mullins-- It should be pretty cool.  There was this one day when we didn't have anything until night time so we went to this place called the Enenam    It's the first time we ever went there.  I've only been to two or three places in our area, and it's already been 2 weeks.  We went to this place that Elder Mickelson calls Christianville.

Elder Mickelson--  It's basically the campung with a bunch of old wooden houses, but everyone who lives there is Christian, so it's good when you're looking for Christian people.  We walked out there to try and find some Christians.  It was pretty fun!

Elder Mullins-- We found some people that were willing to meet.  They gave us their numbers.  It was nice to go and explore it.  I think we might be able to pump some stuff out of there with a little more planning.  We'll see how it goes.

Elder Mickelson--We met someone name kaleidoscope

Elder Mullins-- Coscapello

Elder Mickelson-- Close enough… He's way cool.  He's 20 years old and he's way fun.  He's one of the most sincere people that I've met.  He asks questions being 100% honest with us. He's really cool.  I found him when we're going through a bunch of PPI’s six or seven months ago.

Elder Mullins-- Coscapello  is way cool.  He brought a friend too.  He is a little less potential, but he was wearing the same shirt as us so that was cool.

Elder Mickelson-- We shared the message of the restoration with them really simply while sitting down at the cake store.  It was pretty good.  We felt the spirit.  We should be meeting him again this next week.

Elder Mullins--  Also we took 3 hours out of 1 day to take all the paper stuff in our area book and put it into our electronic area book.  It was pretty killer but we got a lot done and we found a lot of way cool former investigators.

Elder Mickelson-- That was one of the hardest mental workouts I have had in a while.  Moving on… There's a way cool guy.  His name is Miles. We met him at church today, and he's from Hong Kong.  He’s seen the missionaries a ton over in Hong Kong, but never talked with them.

Elder Mickelson-- He was very impressed with how formal and way cool we were.  He couldn't get over the fact that we could speak Malay.  He's been wanting to learn about the Mormon church for a while now.  He doesn't have a religion and he's eating up everything.

Elder Mullins—Yes, he was ready to learn. He's going back to Hong Kong for Chinese New Year, but we're going to teach him over video call so that will be way cool.

Elder Mullins--  Elder Mickelson and I are definitely the most unified companionship in the mission

Elder Mickelson-- Probably in the world.

Elder Mullins-- We got the same pants, the same belt, the same shirt, the same tie, the same ring, the same phone.  What else do we have the same?  The same phone case, and we're going to get another phone case that's the same.  Yep, we got the same colored socks, same color of hair, we're from the same state.

Elder Mullins--  We're going to get to Singapore and I'm ready to look exactly the same. It's going to be way cool.

Elder Mickelson-- We're just going to prove to everyone that we are the most united companionship.

Elder Mickelson--Oh, there's a  way cool guy named Hillary.  It's a guy named Hillary.

Elder Mullins-- He's not female…definitely a guy.  When I first started talking to him he says, “Oh, I'm Christian.”

Elder Mickelson--  RC started talking to him.  He talked about that he went to church when he had the chance.  We started contacting him and it wasn't going super well.  We asked him if he wanted to learn any more about this, and he said,” I don't know. I'm really busy. I'll give you my number we'll see how it goes.”  We told him that we know this can really help you.  He said,  “You know, my life is really hard and it keeps getting harder every day. “ Then we would just drop some testimony on him, mostly about Jesus Christ and about his purpose and giving him hope.  We told him about our purpose in life, and that no matter what happens we can find peace, hope, and assurance because of Jesus Christ and his mission.  We promised him that he could feel that in his life if he met with us.

Elder Mullins-- He went from saying, “I'm kind of busy to whenever you have time we can meet.”

Elder Mickelson-- It was really cool. He asked, “Can you meet on Monday?” and we said, “We're going to be in Singapore for 4 days.” He says, “Wait, are you normally here?  How can I find you?”  I told him, “Don't worry, we're coming back.” We are way excited for him.  He was just one of those solid contacts. It feels like it was really good.  It was really us giving someone hope.

Elder Mullins-- We walked away from him saying we could totally see that guy getting baptized.  We were way pumped for him.

Elder Mickelson-- I guess the only other thing we could talk about is tomorrow.  We are flying to Singapore, and Thursday night we are flying home from Singapore.

Elder Mullins-- So that is all of Monday, all of Tuesday, all of Wednesday, and all of Thursday.  We will start In our area on Friday, so we will have Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.  We’ve got four new investigators, we've got to put someone on date, and we’ve got to get five people to sacrament meeting, and we're going to do it!

Elder Mickelson-- Yeah that's not even going to be hard…well maybe a little bit hard, but we will do it.

Elder Mullins—Yeah, easy!

Elder Mickelson-- Well I think that's about it from us, so Toodles!

Elder Mullins-- Yeah see you later!
