Mom transcribed this from the audio Elder Mullins sent:
We got to church and Brother Gary’s family was there, and President Sebastian’s family was there. These two men have the largest families in the entire branch. These families have kids no older than 12 years old. Between them they have about 12 or 13 little kids. They are all way cute and adorable. A lot of people were late for church so we ended up playing with a bunch of kids for about 30 minutes before church started. We got there really early so since church was late, we had a long wait. That made my life. I just love little kids.

We decided to teach Freddy the Word of Wisdom. Freddy has a problem with the Word of
Wisdom. Basically, he does everything
but drugs. We sat down with him and told
him he wasn’t allowed to smoke or drink.
He said, “Whoa…wait.” So the way
we presented it to him was really funny.
We went back over why we have prophets and why they are important. Then we told him we wanted to share a
commandment that is going to change your life.
If you follow this commandment you will be richer. You will be healthier and stronger. Your family is going to get better. You will be able to remember stuff
better. You will be smarter and
happier. We asked him if he wanted to
know what it was? He said, “Yeah, I
really want to know what it is.” Then we
said if we tell it to you, you need to be willing to follow it. Are you ready to commit? He just said, “uuuuuhhhh”, so we just told
him. He took it really well. His daughter freaked out when we said you
couldn’t drink coffee or tea, but the Spirit calmed her down and she accepted it. It was probably the best Word of Wisdom
lesson I’ve ever taught.
Kelvin and Makin--We went and taught them a couple of times
this week. Kelvin has such a desire to
do what God wants him to do. That comes
back to bite him, because he is way too active in his church. He can play the piano a little, but he’s the
only one in their congregation that can play the piano. He says he has to go to his church to play
the piano. He’s been reading the Book of
Mormon and praying. We told him he
probably wouldn’t get a definite answer that our church is true unless he came
to our church. That will be the next big
step for him. Makin is not active in a
church so we think he will be able to come to our church soon.

| Mixter and Gendry |
Mixter and I are best bros.
He’s the single 30’s Elders Quorum President. He’s way funny and we get along with him very
well. Last Sunday he sat next to me and
says, “Elder Mullins, when can you go see a movie with me. Can you go tomorrow?” I told him we can’t watch movies. Then he said, “Elder I can buy you a
ticket. It’s all good. It will be fun.” I finally said, “Mixter, I can go watch a
movie, but it has to be “The Restoration” and you have to bring a non-member
friend.” So he said, “Okay!” So guess what happened last Friday? We watched a movie with Mixter and his
non-member friends. We taught the whole
restoration to them. Gendry, Mixters
friend, seemed pretty cool. He has a
weird way of praying, but that’s okay, because he’s going to pray like us
soon. He picked up on the Restoration
pretty quickly so we are way excited. He’s
23, the prime baptizing age. When the
movie was showing the first vision he said, “Wait…is this revelation?” We said, “Yes, it is!”
Alana is the district music person. She’s one of our favorite members. District Conference is coming up so she’s
been trying to get us all together for a big choir practice. We missed choir practice on Saturday, because
we had an appointment, but we went on Thursday.
We brought a host of single men with us. We called and invited all the men in the
district and there were just as many men there as women. It was a miracle.
Azmirah is way cool, but she didn’t make it to church today,
so we have to move her baptism day back.
But she is moving out and into a house with a person she is not going to
marry. She has a good, sincere
desire. She doesn’t know what to do, so
she prays. She comes up with a plan and
goes for it. I think she told Ridley the
reason he wasn’t feeling the Spirit is because he was smoking and stuff. She roasted him on that. He came to us and said, “Elders, we’ve gotta
get me to change. I’ve got to stop.” I asked Azmirah if she wanted him to stop
smoking. She got a really big smile, so
hopefully he can stop smoking.
We got this pink paper on our door. It said, “You owe 300 ringgit in water bills. If you don’t pay it in a week we will shut
off your water, and we’ll be forced to take legal action toward you.” We’ve never even gotten a water bill. So, we paid the water bill. Everything is taken care of. The water is not going to be shut off.
We have had a plague hit the Sabah Zone. You know like Egypt when Moses started
calling down plagues? That was one
thing, but this zone has been getting pretty real. 8 of the 12 missionaries in our zone got sick
this week. 7 of them could not go out
for a while. Everyone is finally healthy
again, so we’re good. We always joke
about getting parasites, but someone in our zone totally got a parasite.
One day we were out teaching in the jungle in a little town
called Innanam. We looked out and saw a
sunset out above the green foilage. Then
we saw this massive Chinese temple. It
was made of gray stone. We couldn’t see
anyone there. We wanted to ask people
around us if they could see it, because it looked like this massive, abandoned
temple that only we could see. We are
going to go check that out on our next p-day or the one after that. Maybe we’ll find some monks in there. We see monks all over the mission.
KK is pretty awesome.
We are having a great time. There’s
2 more weeks in the transfer, so one of us will probably leave. I’ve been here for 5 transfers, Elder
Mickelsen has been here for 4. Anything
can happen.
Hope you all have an awesome week!
Love,
Elder Mullins
